I am an accomplished academic researcher with over 18 years of experience in teaching, training, advising, and conducting qualitative research focusing on historical social and political trends in Lebanon and the Arab World. In addition to my academic work, I have led and been part of numerous civil society initiatives in Lebanon.

    This study is based on a mixed method approach combining a survey and focus groups with university students across the country, and adopts a participatory methodology, inviting students to contribute to the different phases of the research. In the first phase of the study a survey will be developed and distributed across universities in Lebanon. It will revolve around three main thematic axes measuring students’ political engagement, their understanding and practice of democracy, their conception of secularism and social change.

    Senior Conflict Analyst and lead researcher, from January to August 2021

    Managed the project team in their work to improve the safety and security of border communities in both Baalbek El-Hermel and Akkar governorates (Lebanon) by enhancing border governance and contributing to enhanced border security and trade facilitation and to contribute to the security and stability of border communities. Focused on the collection of qualitative data through primary and secondary methods to grasp trends in conflict and power dynamics at the community level, the stakeholders involved and their relationships, and the potential avenues for transforming the conflict. Conducted field work and desk research of existing local development plans in Akkar and Baalbek El-Hermel border areas and assess to which extent they are realistic and conflict sensitive.

    • Analyzed conflict and power dynamics between various groups (communities, refugees,

    security agencies);

    • Understood the triggers that cause tension within Lebanese communities;

    • Assessed conflict dynamics and identify dividers and connectors;

“Shamaluna” is a politically independent electoral campaign that seeks to introduce a new approach to political life based on the issues and problems of the people of Lebanon and for North 3 electoral district in particular. "Shamaluna" ran for legislative elections on May 15th 2022 and received 14,121 votes.

“Kelna Beirut” is a “civil society” independent electoral campaign that seeks to introduce a new approach to political life based on the issues and problems of the people of Lebanon and for Beirut in particular. Co-Founder and Senior strategist of “Inma”, from 2015 to 2016


“Inma” is a “civil society” independent electoral campaign that introduced a new approach to development issues based on the problems of the people of Zgharta,North of Lebanon. "Inma’" ran for municipal elections on Ma29, 2016 in Zgharta, North Lebanon and got 25% of the vote, a first in the history of the region.
