Drew MIKHAEL
Violence-to-peace research consultant with over 15 years of experience working across various development programmes in fragile and conflict-affected countries with a focus on MENA and East Africa. Continues to lead longitudinal research into the programmatic effectiveness of conflict-sensitive programming in East Africa (Christian Aid) and with Lebanese and Jordanian police (Siren Associates). Led research project and institutionwide implementation of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion into peacebuilding programmes for the United States Institute of Peace (USIP). Completed longitudinal impact assessment for United Religions Initiative on global programmes. Extensive experience in designing and delivering bespoke research training and mentorship to, postgraduates, professional monitoring and evaluation teams as well as non-experts.

Consultant researcher
Research consultancy project, Christian Aid in fragile and conflict-affected communities. Fieldwork in DRC, South Sudan, Burundi and Myanmar. Produced two final reports (2019 and 2023 attached) with programmatic and donor policy recommendations specifically designed to advance nexus programming and build local peace.
Designed and conducted a research project for the United States Institute of Peace recommending implementation strategy DEI into peacebuilding research (forthcoming publication January 2024).
Consultant for Norwegian People’s Aid for NorthEast Syria. Work with local Syrian partners to develop better conflict analysis through effective data collection, analysis and write up.
Conducted research and produced a report for OECD with recommendations on the viability of deliberative democracy in Lebanon (January 2024).
Led multi-region research report for Action Aid with Jordanian young people and supporting violence to peace transitions.
Prepared public report on a review of legal and real-world situations of whistle-blowers in Lebanon and Jordan Transparency International.
Led Participatory Action Research Project with young people for British Council Iraq for and presented findings in May 2023. Designed and monitored data collection of research projects, troubleshooting and then co-analysed with young people.
Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Siren Associates Lebanon and Jordan providing consulting on conflict sensitivity in programmes. Design and led local teams in impact assessment for programme activities.
